TAIMUR
Taimur is a seasoned veteran DJ with over 25 years of experience in the industry. From 2006 to 2017, he ran the iconic Blk|Market Membership parties in NYC, where he also held a residency. During his time at Halcyon Records (2008-2016), Taimur spearheaded US distribution for numerous labels and played a major role in revitalizing Brooklyn's local dance scene. His contributions have earned him a respected place as one of the key figures behind New York's contemporary dance music scene.
Now based in Miami, Taimur has shifted his focus entirely to his DJ and production career. In 2018, he and his wife Ostara launched Blkmarket Music, a vinyl-only label featuring releases from artists like Reade Truth, Craig Richards (with remixes by Rhadoo, Subb-an & Adam Shelton), and many more. Collaborations include Taimur's work with Miami electro legend Gosub and their T.A.O (Taimur.Amo.Ostara) EP series, as well as releases from emerging talents from around the world.
In addition to running Blkmarket Music, Taimur and Ostara recently launched a sub-label, Blkmarket Music Underground Party Edits, which focuses on club DJ edits. The first release was DJ Spun's "Party Edits" [BUMP-E000]. Upcoming releases from the label include T.A.O's "Dreama" 2x12" Legends remix pack, Buraye's "Holographic Visitors" album, and EPs from artists like Jean Pierre, Jay Tripwire, DJ Sweater, and more.
In addition to his DJing and label work, Taimur and Ostara opened T Bag Records Shop in Miami in 2021. The store is dedicated to underground dance music, offering both new and rare vinyl from various genres.
